Join us Friday, March 6th, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Vashon High School for the Vashon Family Feast, a cherished island tradition! Enjoy a delicious pasta bar (with gluten free options!), prepared by our amazing district Food Services Department, before the exciting Seniors vs. Staff basketball game—all while supporting Vashon Island School District schools through a 'Raise the Paddle' fundraiser that will occur in person at Family Feast and online before the event. See the fundraising categories for each school listed below - if you can't attend the event (or want to donate early!), donating here is a great way to support the schools and their chosen causes!
Chautauqua Elementary School:
-$2,000 for a Garden Coordinator stipend that will allow the school to open up the garden during recesses and lunches and hosting classes in the garden for students
-$1,000 for implements for the garden (implements, plants, a table and chairs, etc.)
McMurray Middle School:
-$1,500 for scholarships for Exploratory Week, a beloved, experiential learning program on Vashon Island that features field trips and hands-on, project-based activities for 8th Graders, designed to help students discover interests and gain real-world experience
-$1,500 for art and elective class supplies
Vashon High School:
-$3,000 for Associated Student Body (ASB) Funds. Associated Student Body (ASB) funds are raised on behalf of students. They are used for optional, extracurricular events, such as clubs or school social events.
FamilyLink (K-8):
-$500 for enrichment workshops
StudentLink (9-12):
-$500 for the tutoring program
VHS Future Business Leaders of America:
-$2,000 to help with the VHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) get to the WA State Business Leadership Conference in April. VHS FBLA is a brand-new chapter, so starting from scratch with fundraising. A whopping 23 students are eligible to attend and compete at State after excelling at Regionals in a variety of competitive events such as accounting, entrepreneurship, event planning, sports and entertainment management, networking infrastructures, organizational leadership, marketing, job interview, social media strategies, and more. The State conference provides opportunities for our students to engage in competitive events, networking, workshops, leadership development, and earn the chance to advance to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in late June.
Vashon Family Feast

We collect Thriftway and IGA receipts from our Chautauqua and McMurray families that we then tally up and turn in to Thriftway and IGA for a generous donation of 1% of the total sales from those receipts. It's a great way to support Vashon PTO just by doing your normal shopping.
At Chautauqua: Drop them off at the Orca Pod (the structure just inside the front doors of the school with the daily joke) where you will find a wooden box with a label for the Thriftway receipt program.
At McMurray: Drop them off to the box in the front office.

Find out available volunteer openings! Both on-going commitments and one-time spots are needed.
Come to a PTO meeting or bring your kids to one of Vashon PTO's fun events!
TEACHERS
The PTO recognizes our excellent staff and teachers by providing snacks and treats for meetings and appreciation week, as well as special project financing and books through the book fair.
STUDENTS
The PTO provides opportunities for fellowship and activities for students, including Poetry Night, Chess Club, Science Night, Bingo Night and Popcorn/Hot Cocoa Fridays.
FAMILIES
We support Vashon families by creating activities they can enjoy together, such as the Harvest Festival and Holiday Shop, as well as building relationships with parents through meetings and volunteerism.
THE BENEFITS OF AN ACTIVE PTO
Joining the PTO keeps families informed about their child's school life and allows them to contribute to their child's learning experience. The Vashon PTO offers an opportunity for parents to be involved in their child's education and community. It also creates a sense of community by connecting parents with one another. The Vashon PTO hosts speakers teach families about communication, parenting skills, understanding their child's learning style, community resources, and building strong parent-child relationships.

The Vashon PTO strives to ensure that all students have equitable access to school events and activities. To support students and their families, the PTO works behind the scenes to ensure that all students have access to yearbooks, activities and spirit wear.
